The Starters: Crossfire (December 16, 2015)

In today's episode, there were two interesting questions that were asked during the crossfire segment between Skeets and Tas that I wanted to answer as well.

Q1: Which NBA team/s should consider making a deal?
  • Tas answered the Nets and honestly, I personally agree with him on this. They went all in a few years back when they decided to acquire the Truth and KG. Yet, as we all know that whole plan didn't pan out the way they would have wanted to. Now, they have a poor record with no draft picks to look forward to. Time to deal guys like Brook Lopez, Joe Johnson and even, Jarrett Jack so that they can acquire draft picks and expiring contracts. To simply put it, the Nets should start rebuilding already. I also think that Houston should probably consider making some deals as well. I mean, if for them, James Harden is their guy, and they see Dwight Howard as a mere add on, then they might as well move Howard. Chris Sheridan wrote that Dwight might end up in Miami. I don't actually buy it, but I do think that the Rockets should just trade Howard if they will just use him the way they are using him.

Q2: Which NBA Superstar/s should be traded already?

  • Aside from Dwight Howard, the guys mentioned D-Rose as well. I don't know if I am the only one seeing this or what, but I just don't see D-Rose fitting in well with what Fred Hoiberg wants to accomplish with the Bulls. Some say that he is just struggling with his shot, but in reality, the system just doesn't seem to bring out the best in him. In fact, I also think Joakim Noah should be traded as well. He is another guy who is not finding his way in Fred Hoiberg's system. These guys still have value even if they are struggling, so, why not trade them for guys who would fit in better. And hopefully, it will be a win-win situation for both the Bulls and their former Superstars. Another superstar who might just get traded is Carmelo Anthony. Why not trade him to a team that can actually go for a title. Melo is 31 already. He is not getting any younger. I think it would be best for the Knicks to trade him to an upcoming team that lacks a superstar with plenty of young assets. It will give the Knicks young assets while Melo in turn, will be the much-awaited superstar of that team. How about Melo to Boston? Or even, Melo to Milwaukee?
