Season Preview: Sacramento Kings

Will George Karl and DeMarcus Cousins find a middle ground to make it work in Sacramento?

The 2015-2016 Projected Roster

Point Guards: Rajon Rondo, Darren Collison, Seth Curry

Shooting Guards: Ben McLemore, Marco Belinelli, James Anderson

Small Forwards: Rudy Gay, Caron Butler, Omri Casspi

Power Forwards: Quincy Acy, Duje Dukan, Luka Mitrovic

Centers: DeMarcus Cousins, Willie Cauley-Stein, Kosta Koufos

The Optimistic View
The Kings have arguably the most talented Center in the NBA in DeMarcus Cousins. They have one of the greatest coaches to ever coach in the NBA in George Karl. They have one of the most gifted wingmen in the league in Rudy Gay. And they have arguably one of the best pure point guards with championship experience in Rajon Rondo. Plus, they have Shaq and Vivek Ranadive as progressive thinking owners. The major question for this team is on how all these parts can work together in harmony so that the fans in Sacramento will once again be entertained by Sacramento Kings basketball of old?

The Realistic Expectations
The egos of DeMarcus Cousins, George Karl and Rajon Rondo will eventually catch up on this team. With the West being loaded as always, Sacramento has no time for too much drama especially they are really serious about getting this thing turned around. If they just get to put these egos aside and play ball, then there is probably some hope for this team. Yet, if the egos blow up on them, then DeMarcus Cousins might actually end up in LA or if not, George Karl will be back on the studios of ESPN.

Bottomline
It is hard to bet on a team that has traded away their lottery picks for the past seasons like Jimmer Fredette, Derrick Williams and Nik Stauskas without getting any equal compensation. Sad to say, it was also because they did not draft well or probably, did not draft the guy that would really fit. Hopefully, Willie Cauley-Stein will be a start of something new for them. Furthermore, it is also hard to put your money on a team where the bonafide star player and the head coach visibly do not get along and bring their so-called misunderstandings to the world of social media.

Bold Predictions

The Kings will have a long season ahead of them depending on how the many egos on the team will be pacified. Cousins might get traded or Karl might get fired or even both, unless the two of them find a way to work together accordingly. If for some reason they do, which all of Sacramento hope they would, then maybe just maybe the Kings will be relevant once again. If not, expect the Kings to be lottery-bound once again.
