Game 1 between the LA Clippers  and the Detroit Pistons: Detroit won 77-69.

Players who made an impression:
1) Stanley Johnson (Detroit Pistons, 2015 draft 8th overall pick): I knew he could defend but he showed his offensive prowess in this game. He had 24 points on 10 for 14 shooting. Then, he even added 9 boards and 3 steals. He did only shoot 1 for 3 from three and just went 3 for 5 from the line. Still, an amazing performance by Stanley Johnson.

2) Kammeon Holsey (Detroit Pistons, Forward): This guy came off the bench and he just changed the game. He went 7 for 9 from the field and had 16 points and 3 boards. He was just solid and did not force the issue.

3) Liam McMorrow (LAC, Center): Talk about a BIG, active guy. He recently played in the Philippine Basketball Association for Barako Bull. Nice to see him doing well. He had 9 points and 9 boards in only 17 minutes of action.

Game 2 between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Charlotte Hornets: Griz won 79-75

Players who made an impression:
1)Troy Daniels (Charlotte Hornets, Guard): The guy can SHOOT period. He went 6 out of 9 from three and was a perfect 6 for 6 from the line. He had 21 points and also had 6 boards.

2)Aaron Harrison (Charlotte Hornets, Guard, went undrafted): A guy with a chip on his shoulder. He was the Kentucky player who did not get drafted. Still, he went to work with a line of 16 points, 8 dimes and 4 boards. He shot it well from the field going 6 out of 10. He did go 0 for 3 from downtown and shot only 4 for 6 from the line.

3) Frank Kaminsky (Charlotte Hornets, 2015 draft 9th overall pick): Frank "The Tank" went to work again. He had a very efficient game going 6 for 8 from the field and 2 for 3 from beyond the arc. He garnered 14 points and 8 boards. Pretty solid follow-up game by Kaminsky.

4) Russ Smith (Memphis Grizzlies, Guard): This guy is not the flashy type. Yet, Russ Smith is just the type who gets the job done. And take note, they won the game. The former lead guard of Rick Pitino had 14 points, 7 dimes and 3 boards. He shot 5 for 10 from the field and went 4 for 5 from the line. He does have to really develop his ability to shoot it from beyond the arc to be really effective.

Game 3 between the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat: Heat won 71-70.

Players who made an impression:

1) Ryan Boatright (Brooklyn Nets, Guard, went undrafted): Another guy who was trying to show that he deserved more than just going undrafted. The former UConn standout had 23 points and he shot really well. He was 7 for 14 from the field, 5 for 8 from three point distance and 4 for 4 from the line. Yet, the only downside was that he did not have an assist.
2) Willie Reed (Miami Heat, Center): Big fellow had 17 points and 9 boards. He knew how to use his size to his advantage. Good thing that he stepped it up for the Heat because Justise Winslow had a tough time from the field.
